Schedule of Events:
Friday, February 7, 7:00-9:00 PM - Al Khaleej 1.0: “Get to know the culture before you get to know the dance" basic class: Khaleeji is more than what the West think it is.
Saturday, February 8, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm - Khaleeji dance 101: True culture and tradition: “Khaleeji” to refer to the styles of dance, culture and music from the Persian Gulf or Arabian Gulf region. Focus on KSA and social dances.
Saturday, February 8, 1:30-3:30 pm - Khaleeji technique, mannerisms, and movement: So now we know the Khaleej dance etiquette (even down to the traditions in how the dance is performed) and the basics of the movement. In this class we will go beyond the basics to put together a series of movements and dance patterns. This is not a choreography class; techniques will be taught how to develop fluidity in the dance.
Saturday, February 8, 7:30 pm - Folkloric February show
Sunday, February 9, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm - "The Khaleej to Masriya, Masriya to the Khaleej and the others in between": Egyptian music incorporating Khaleej rhythms (especially in 2/4 rhythms). We will discuss and dance the differences between these regions / cultures to differentiate and recognize what is Khaleeji musicality and what is not.
Full weekend pass is for classes only. Show ticket must be purchased separately. Performers do not need to purchase a ticket.

About Khadijah: Khadijah is a teacher, dancer and educator of African in origin dances and choreographer for 22 years. She is very thankful to be considered one of the most influential names in Arabic dance and folklore today. She is based in Denver, CO (USA), She is of Kenyan descent born in KSA. She is known for having unique didactics of Afro-Arabian Folklore, music and its cultural aspects. In a fortunate addition to being highly sought after in the Denver community , she can be seen performing live in Denver's top establishments when she is not traveling. She is thankful to have been invited in the past and current to teach and perform in various US states and abroad. She continues to perfect her dance education by studying with great masters and composers of Afro-Arabian Dances worldwide. She constantly travels to improve her approach, stylization, technique and cultural aspects of the dances and the culture embedded deep within the foundations of the African diaspora. She is the Owner and creator of various online platforms that already have students, dancers and musicians from all over the world to enjoy.
